PUBLIC RELATIONS DEFINED: #PRIS

what-is-public-relations

As Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday season, it’s time to prepare some answers for the inevitable family interrogation that takes place during large gatherings. As PR pros, the most common question asked is “what exactly do you do, again?”

A fresh approach to this question recently took place, asking PR pros to chime in with their own definitions of PR through social media outlets using the hashtag #PRis. PR Newswire created an infographic showcasing the best answers from the “PR Streets.” Here are some of our favorite answers:

“#PRis a key part of integrated marketing of the future”
PR is a fusion of art and science. It’s all about supporting sales objectives and providing companies with the tools to succeed. PR allows companies to go beyond product promotion to actually highlighting the business as a whole. Media placements can showcase individual company members as thought leaders in their field and provide exposure to the brand. Combining PR with the rest of the integrated marketing tactics is becoming the standard and companies consider PR to be a critical part of their businesses.

“#PRis creativity in difficult times”
While our involvement with clients is behind the scenes, we are known for stepping into our creative shoes full-force when a crisis arises. Whether it is dealing directly with the media, monitoring all media and social channels or writing press releases for clients, we are always ready to help. PR has taken center stage several times this past year, particularly when companies are going through major crises.

“PRis a solid connection between a company and its publics”
This is perhaps the best aspect of PR. It’s important to focus on what’s going to make companies successful, develop strategies, outline plans and execute accordingly. There is nothing more rewarding than understanding a client’s message and being able to disseminate that message in a way that engages conversation.
